Since 2016
Water Is Alive has been developing a nature-based remedy to clean up Brownfields and Superfund sites with organic wastes that act as carrier substrates for beneficial microbes. These microorganisms are grown on a complex diet of pre-consumer food waste that protects the enzymes and amino acids from denaturation.
In 2018, we started focusing primarily on inoculating onion waste. Onions are the third most grown vegetable on the planet and their industrial processing produces millions of tons of organic waste annually.
When treating plant life to increase water soluble nutrient availability to plants, or when added to water to break down nutrients and chemicals impairing water quality, we add the TerraBoost™ extracts to water to dilute the extracts before or during the application.

Water Is Alive grows non-GMO food-grade microorganisms on fruit and vegetable wastes. These beneficial microbes are able to metabolize and break down the food wastes during the fermentation process which begins soon after fresh foods are past their peak ripeness. Unfortunately, this is when many people (and restaurants, companies, etc) throw out these foodstuffs resulting in tons and tons of bio-available food waste that hits our landfill every day.
As fruit and vegetable waste is being disposed of at the processing facility, we inoculate the waste with our beneficial microbes. The waste is then sealed in airtight containers to ferment for 3 weeks. After the fermentation is complete, the liquids are extracted from the fruit and vegetable wastes.
We call these extracts TerraBoost™. These extracts are now completely populated with billions of beneficial microbes from the inoculation.
TerraBoost™ also contains other beneficial compounds that have been produced during the fermentation process.
